About the event
Safer chemical alternatives often exist long before they are used. Some make it to market and change an industry. Others stay on the shelf despite their potential. What makes the difference?
In this panel, experts from regulatory science, industry and green chemistry share real examples of safer alternatives that succeeded and ones that didn't. They will look at what motivates companies to replace hazardous chemicals, how they decide which substitutions to pursue, and how they judge whether an alternative is truly safer and more sustainable. The discussion will also cover the barriers that slow adoption, the role government can play, and which chemical hazards are most pressing today and in the future. It closes with the innovations that give the panelists reason for optimism.
